God, my Exceeding Joy

I met my husband while I was a missionary in Hong Kong. He had swum out of China after the Cultural Revolution. We have been married 32 years and have four children (2 biological and 2 adopted), ages 22-30. My mother also lives with us (she just turned 90). I am truly a blessed woman.

"My thoughts are not your thoughts"

It has been almost a month since I last posted anything. It has been a full few weeks. We had torrential rains and high winds the first weekend of the month. On Dec. 3, Kalen fell on his way to take his last finals of the term, breaking his right femur. While I sat in the ER with him and called home, I found that our basement was flooding. Kara was trying valiantly to stem the flow but without great success. We are still in process cleaning out that mess.

Kalen spent a week in the hospital and is home now with a body cast. He will get that off the first of the year, and hopes to be able to start the winter term at school the following week. God moves in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform. This whole experience brought Kalen to the point of placing his trust in the Lord. What a special Christmas gift that is!

Today's reading from Daily Light was a great encouragement to me, and seemed especially appropriate for the past few weeks. What a comfort to know Who is in control in all things, and that His ways are always best.

If the LORD would make windows in
heaven, might this thing be?

H AVE faith in God.--Without faith it is impossible to please God.--With God all things are possible.

Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver?

My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.--Prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear.--LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power.

We should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead.
