God, my Exceeding Joy

"Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God." Psalm 43:4

I met my husband while I was a missionary in Hong Kong. He had swum out of China after the Cultural Revolution. We have been married 32 years and have four children (2 biological and 2 adopted), ages 22-30. My mother also lives with us (she just turned 90). I am truly a blessed woman.

The Lord is good

We spent the weekend on the Oregon coast. It was rather hazy most of the time, but still refreshingly beautiful as we soaked in God's glorious handiwork. He gives us moment-by- moment reminders that He is, indeed, so good. This morning's Daily Light spoke to that theme as well.

The LORD is good, a strong hold in the

day of trouble; and he knoweth
them that trust in him.

P RAISE the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.--God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.--I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.--Who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency!--As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him. For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?

If any man love God, the same is known of him.--The foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.--The LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.--Thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

He knows my name

Last month I posted the words to the song, "Before the Throne of God Above". It has been very much on my mind these past days. And then today the reading from Daily Light reinforced it again with verses directly from Scripture that I'm sure the song was based on. Let God's Word warm and encourage your life today.

Jesus saith unto her, Mary.

F EAR not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name: thou art mine.--The sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name. And the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

The foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.--We have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God.

Thou shalt take two onyx stones, and grave on them the names of the children of Israel. And Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial. And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment. And thou shalt set in it . . . four rows of stones. And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, . . . and they shall be upon Aaron's heart, when he goeth in before the LORD.

Peace

The fruit of the Spirit is peace.

T O be spiritually minded is life and peace.

God hath called us to peace.--Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.--The God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.--Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

The work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.--Whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Great peace have they which love thy law.
