God, my Exceeding Joy

"Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God." Psalm 43:4

I met my husband while I was a missionary in Hong Kong. He had swum out of China after the Cultural Revolution. We have been married 32 years and have four children (2 biological and 2 adopted), ages 22-30. My mother also lives with us (she just turned 90). I am truly a blessed woman.

Still here

It has been over a month since I last posted. I have been learning much about God's greatness and my weakness. I hope to get some of what I've been learning written down, but in the meantime I thought I would pass on yesterday's reading from the Daily Light. God's Word addresses EVERY detail of my life, and I have found it leading me always to Him as my "exceeding joy".

My heart panteth, my strength faileth

me.

H EAR my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. . . . For when I am weak, then am I strong.

When Peter saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?--If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.--He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.--The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.--Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power.
