A Word Saturated Life

Yesterday began the annual spring Bible conference at church (Trinity Bible Church). The theme this year is "A Word Saturated Life," taken from Psalm 119. Professor Paul Felix from The Master's Seminary, and President of the Los Angeles Bible Training School, is the speaker. After just two messages yesterday, I already have enough to think on and put into practise for many days to come.

I wanted to pass along one suggestion that particularly impressed me. Starting with verse one, take a verse of Psalm 119 each morning. Read it, think about it, and through the day really "chew" on it, making it a part of your life. By the end of the year you will have made it through the Psalm twice, and be a changed person! I can think of no better way to pursue God than by letting His Word saturate my life moment by moment.

If you would like to listen to the messages, they can be downloaded from the church website: www.tbcpdx.org

Here is your jump-start for today:

Psalm 119:1 - "Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD." (KJV)
"Happy are those whose conduct is beyond reproach, who are living according to the law of the Lord." (Harrison)

That is a great suggestion. Sometimes I feel like if I really want to "do devotions" right I have to read large chunks of Scripture. For some strange reason I feel guilty just focusing on one verse. But if I chew that verse over all day it will become a part of me rather than having it all wash over me. Maybe I just need to do both--eating and washing:-).
Sorry I have been MIA. I hope you and yours are doing well.
Thanks for all the encouragement and solid theology that you put on your blog.

It's good to hear your "voice" again, Leigh Ann. I think life has been really full for both of us lately. I have been planning to write you, but it hasn't materialized yet! Maybe this next week?

Our Bible conference ended much too quickly, as far as I was concerned. It was sooooo rich. You will really enjoy the sermons, I'm sure. Already taking a verse a day and really thinking about it and putting it into my life, has made some noticeable changes for me (mainly in attitude). I'm also going through Thomas Manton's series on Psalm 119. He has a sermon for each verse! It gives me plenty to think about through the day, for sure.

Have a wonderful weekend, remembering the resurrection.
